Circle of Life
When we started working in the Savanette in 2005, there was no electricity, water, school or opportunities for employment. In November of 2009, Jan took down magazine pages and an idea to make jewelry to bring back to the US to sell. She started with 12 women. Currently there are over 50 people, mostly women with a few men who make wonderful products. Most products are made from reccyled magazine pages or scrapbook paper. Each of the people now make over $400 per year which is more than the average Haitian income. We have a waiting list of 50 more people.
